1/ One of most important things I've learned: Severe personality problems find *camouflage.* No one thinks "I'm a sadist" or "I'm a malignant narcissist." They find a belief system/social group that validates their most hateful, destructive impulses & construes them as virtues.

  • Not sure how much of an agenda the tweet author had here as I don't know him, but it's an interesting way of explaining how dogmatic or black and white thinking can be improved by trying to solve the problem, rather than state it.

Doubt-impedance matching. To persuade smart people, you have to start from a posture of genuine doubt that matches theirs and work both of you into belief together. Belief is a relationship variable, not an individual one. It is founded on mutual information, not private.
