It’s hard to overstate the difference in social meaning of broadcasting your photos out to whoever follows you and the pre-digital way of getting them printed and having people over for dinner to look at your vacation album/slides.

Hot take: 🔥🔥 Algorithms have no place in the future of social media. 🔥🔥 THREAD: 1/ Marketplaces are judgment aggregators. Algorithms make judgments on your behalf. Thus “algorithm” is just another word for “unfree market.”

Social Media is a hormetic drug: beneficial in low doses, toxic in high doses. The problem is that is that it's inherently designed to be 'engaging' (the Soylicon Valley euphemism for addictive).
